My Voice Will Not Be Silenced

All of us want a world which is a safe place to raise our families. Yet, we know that the world is filled with war, famine and genocide. In the United States, however, tragedy all too often occurs with our motor vehicles.

As a litigator for many years, I have represented families who have lost children due to the negligence of another driver. I have lived with their pain for a long time and now it's time for me to release my pain.

Women and Heart Disease

Its been all over the news, on Oprah, on CNN, and on the Internet that heart disease is the leading cause of death of American Woman. I never would have believed that and always thought that cancer was the leading cause of death in women.

Well, I learned about heart disease for myself late last year. Last November, my doctor told me that I had high cholesterol. He told me that I could start taking niacin, niacin and a statin drug or I could begin an exercise program (walking everyday for at least 30 minutes) while taking plant sterol supplements. I chose the latter. Earlier last year, we had joined a health club but I rarely went. So I decided in earnest to walk.

Calling it Like You See It

As a lawyer with over 25 years experience in the criminal and civil courts, I have vigorously represented my clients interests whether the client was the State of Ohio in a criminal prosecution, or a business seeking q remedy or damages in a civil case or a spouse seeking a divorce in a Florida Family Courts. Prosecution and litigation usually brought out the worst behavior in people.

I"ll never forget a criminal case where I was told by the defense, that I was prosecuting two innocent men for rape by two teenage girls. I knew in my heart that my clients were lying. All I had to do was to convince my bosses to drop the charges. This was no easy task. In fact when presenting their cases to my superior, I was told to try the case. I believed at the time that they thought I was trying to ease my workload as I was pregnant.

Upcoming elections

I watched CNN last night (8/26/06)at 8:OOpm about our president's use and abuse of power. In it, they show a speech of Mr. Bush decrying the terrorists for the 9/11 attacks. He says he wants justice for the 9/11 victims. What is his justice exactly? Is it killing more innocent people in Iraq for the sake of 9/11 victims. Iraq and Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11, although our president has tried to make the connection. So are U.S. soldiers killing people or being killled themselves in Iraq for justice's sake? Or is for oil's sake? Or for water's sake? Or is it for democracy sake?
